Maersk looking to a greener future.

AP Moller – Maersk are planning on arranging a deal with China’s Debo Energy to purchase green methanol which will be used to provide a fuel supply for their 16,000 TEU, methanol-powered containerships.

Debo Energy will produce approximately 200,000 tons of green methanol per year which is expected to start sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2024. This could be the first step that sees Maersk working with Chinese partners as they see great potential in the production of green methanol and transitioning towards sustainable energy.
